Ryan Reynolds really is a superhero!
One of the biggest movies of the year was Reynold’s comic book flick Deadpool, and the 39-year-old has not been shy about his love for his fans.
Ryan has taken to social media to both thank fans and raise awareness for his supporters battling cancer who REALLY love and relate his comic book character — because the Merc with a Mouth also has cancer!
Well now that the stud muffin is doing press for the Blu Ray release of his film, he’s opened up about how meeting the sick children inspired him and how the experience affected him:
“To be totally honest, one thing I thought was really fantastic is a lot of kids have been reaching out because they look up to Deadpool ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ a lot of kids with cancer and that sort of thing ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ and I’ve gotten to know a lot of these kids based on Deadpool.”
Reynolds continued, saying:
“They love this character Wade Wilson because he’s basically given his diagnosis and flips like a bird, and that’s something a lot of these guys and girls really relate to. I got to spend a lot of time with these kids and do a lot of things with Make-A-Wish Foundation.”
The actor went on to talk about his desire to dress up as the hero to visit kids in hospitals:
“I always want to wear the suit when I go into the hospital, but the problem is that the suit is mostly weapons. Captain America has a shiny shield, Thor has a semi-non threatening hammer, but I have like katanas and semi-automatic pistols, which is not something you go through the metal detector of a hospital in.”
Yeah, we can see how that would be an AWFUL idea. LOLz!
What do you think about Ryan’s desire to use his R-rated hero to inspire kids?
