Just call her Sister Katy Perry!
On Wednesday, an El Lay judge decided to block the sale of a former convent which had been at the center of a real estate battle between Miz Perry and a couple of nuns. LOLz!
In case you forgot, the Roar singer attempted to purchase the eight-acre estate in Los Feliz, CA for $14.5 million back in July 2015. Unfortunately, the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary didn’t seem to keen on the A-lister purchasing their former home and decided to agree to sell the land to restaurateur Dana Hollister for $15.5 million instead.
However, when the archdiocese got wind of this move, they took legal action against the sisters claiming that the women did NOT have the authority to sell the land to Dana. While two of the nuns who live on the property are vehement that it is their right to sell the convent, Archbishop Jose Gomez argues that he alone has the authority to offer up the estate and added that he planned to let the Teenage Dream artist purchase the property.
And it seems like El Lay Superior Court Judge Stephanie Bowick agrees with the Archbishop as she ruled in his favor and blocked Hollister’s purchase of the convent — which, in result, voids the deed and purchase documents for Dana. Awkward!
Katy’s lawyers seem pretty positive that this ruling is a win for the musician, as they think the 31-year-old is now one step closer to snagging her dream property. Although, it’s said that the nuns are looking to appeal the court’s decision…
