This is an amazing development, even if it comes out of an unspeakable tragedy.
Last week, we reported on the gruesome death of 40-year-old Ingrid Lyne, a nurse who was found murdered after meeting a man she met on a dating website.
Now, as police look into the suspect’s background to determine whether or not he has more victims in his past, at least one sliver of good has emerged.
A GoFundMe page established to help Lyne’s three daughters has raised more than $217,000 in just six days — and every cent of the money will go to a trust dedicated to the girls, aged 7, 10, and 12.
Melissa Koda, a friend of Lyne’s Seattle-based family who launched the page, wrote of her decision to do so:
“Ingrid left behind many that loved her, but most importantly her three daughters are now without a mother. It is heartbreaking to think of the journey ahead for this family. As the family mourns, let’s all come together and help them financially raise these girls.”
And come together they have — to date, nearly 4,500 people have raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars, inspiring goodness and generosity in what is otherwise such a dark, dark time in the lives of Lyne’s friends and family.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those three little girls.
