This is just so sad.
On Sunday, it was revealed that soul singer Billy Paul passed away in his home due to a serious medical condition. He was 81 years old.
How awful! A statement on the Let’s Make A Baby artist’s website shared:
“We regret to announce with a heavy heart that Billy has passed away today at home after a serious medical condition. We would like to extend our most sincere condolences to his wife Blanche and family for their loss, as they and the world grieves the loss of another musical icon that helped pioneered todays R&B music. Billy will be truly missed.”
The Grammy winner is probably best known for his 1972 hit Me and Mrs. Jones and performing alongside legends such as Charlie Parker, Nina Simone, and Miles Davis. Not to mention, in addition to his debut album Feelin’ Good at the Cadillac Club, Paul released 14 other albums through 1988. Wow!
The late industry vet’s manager has since confirmed that Billy died while in his Blackwood, New Jersey residence after being diagnosed with cancer. So tragic!
Our thoughts are with Billy’s loved ones and fans during this trying time.
