The 41-year-old called into the Detroit radio show Mojo in the Morning earlier today to explain why her DUI case documents were sealed, unlike an average drunken driving court case — which led people to believe she was getting preferential treatment from authorities.
Kim said the only reason the docs were sealed is because they contained personal information about her medical health.
During the interview, the mother-of-four admitted to specifically setting up the crash:
“I sat at the end of a road where I knew that no one else but myself would get hurt. Yes, I drank, I took pills and I hit the gas and aimed for a pole.”
She continued by saying she immediately confessed to the police:
“I apologized immensely. I did not even expect to make it through that, and I told (police) that I tried to do this on purpose. I’m so sorry.”
As far as the DUI case goes, Kim’s attorney Mike Smith says his client wasn’t in the right state of mind and the warrant wasn’t handled properly by the judge:
“Everything has merit. I totally believe in the case, I totally believe in my argument. We’ll see how it plays out.”
On the other hand, the prosecution argues that Kim gave police consent to check her levels.
The judge will hear both arguments later this month.
