POTUS has had enough!
You can’t look anywhere these days without seeing Donald Trump, most likely spewing out entertaining yet ridiculous musings in a way-too-successful attempt to get media coverage. (Yes, we realize the irony of this post — just bare with us for a sec.)
But now that the business mogul turned reality TV star turned pseudo-political figure is the presumptive Republican nominee for president, Barack Obama is urging journalists — and voters — to treat the controversial candidate like├óΓé¼┬ª well, an actual candidate!
The President spoke out on The Donald at a Friday news conference, making it clear that the 2016 White House campaign shouldn’t be treated like “a reality show,” imploring:
“We are in serious times, and this is a really serious job. This is not entertainment. This is not a reality show. This is a contest for the presidency of the United States. Every candidate, every nominee, needs to be subject to exacting standards and genuine scrutiny.”
Obama expressed his concern that coverage of the former Apprentice host had focused on “the spectacle and the circus” of the campaign over the actual ramifications of a Trump presidency for our country.
Maintaining that Trump’s controversial proposals and flippant statements would not hold up to scrutiny, Obama hammered in that Trump “has a long record that needs to be examined.”
“I have no thoughts on Mr. Trump’s tweets. As a general rule, I don’t pay attention to Mr. Trump’s tweets.”
Oh, snap — he is NOT kidding around!
With the general election coming up, we have a feeling Obama is just getting started on grilling the controversial candidate!
