We’re still reeling from this surprise!
While processing this news, we couldn’t help but take a closer look at the meaning of the little one’s name. If you’re itching your heads trying to figure out where you’ve heard the baby’s name before, it is because it’s the tiny tot’s big sis Esmerelda‘s middle name.
Well, well! Not to mention, Amada is also the name of Miz Mendes’ late grandmother, whom she never met. It’s very important to the 42-year-old that her children have names which reflect their Hispanic heritage.
In fact, while filming the 2007 flick We Own the Night, the mother of two asked the director James Gray if she could change her character’s name to honor her deceased relative — to which he obliged. When discussing her grandmother, Eva previously noted:
“I have a feeling that I am so like her, I feel like we’re connected.”
Of course, it also helps that the Spanish translation of the name Amada means beloved, adored, and dear. How beautiful!
Innerestingly enough, in addition to playing a character named Amada, Eva also played character named Esmerelda in V.I.P. Is anyone else seeing a pattern?
Regardless, we couldn’t be happier for the famous couple. Congrats again you two!
