UPDATE 7:04 P.M. EST: SIKE! Dionne Warwick tells The Hollywood Reporter that Lady GaGa WILL star in her biopic. Apparently, her music reps knew about the project and NOT her film reps. Warwick says:
“It is just a question of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing… I’m waiting now for an email from either her and or management letting me know that all the retractions that have been tracted will be retracted.”
Glad this is cleared up!
Well, that’s awkward.
On Friday, R&B legend Dionne Warwick announced her own upcoming biopic Dionne at the Cannes Film Festival!
At the event, Warwick revealed she would be played by Destiny’s Child alum LeToya Luckett, noting the film would also star Olympia Dukakis, Danny Glover, and Lady GaGa — who was signed to play Dionne’s “musical nemesis” Cilla Black!
And if the casting of GaGa as the English singer sounded too good to be true, it’s because it WAS!
Immediately after the event, the pop star’s reps sent out a statement saying she was not involved with the project, telling Variety:
“Lady Gaga is not attached and will not appear in the project. Reports of Gaga starring in the project are false.”
Well, that makes things super awkward for Dionne, especially since journalists were shown a promotional poster with GaGa’s name on it!
What’s worse is according to sources, the Born This Way singer hadn’t even heard of the movie — which means either someone was trolling Dionne REAL hard, or there was just serious miscommunication!
Either that, or Warwick just hoped the songstress would forget she never auditioned and agree to do the film anyway! LOLz!
Will YOU be seeing Dionne without GaGa?
