More On Why Whitney Houston’s Estate Nixed The Christina Aguilera Duet On The Voice — Find Out What Bothered Them About The Hologram!

UPDATE 5:11 P.M. ET: Aguilera has now weighed in on Houston’s estate nixing the hologram duet, releasing a statement on Friday afternoon:

“I was honored that the Houston family asked me to perform a duet with the legendary Whitney Houston on The Voice. Sadly the technology could not meet up to the talent that Whitney possessed, but I do know in time the performance the fans and I have been hoping for will come to life.”

Just as soon as it leaked… it was gone!

Last night we got a look at the much-ballyhooed Whitney Houston hologram that was set to debut as part of a duet alongside Christina Aguilera on The Voice‘s season finale next week, but it looks like that’s all been nixed!

Just hours after footage of the late singer’s hologram and performance alongside Aguilera leaked on Facebook, Pat Houston — Whitney’s sister-in-law and the executor of her estate — announced that they will NOT allow it to air on TV!

The vid — which has since been deleted from the social network — was a snippet of Aguilera belting out I Have Nothing before introducing the hologram of a much younger Houston, at which point the two stars sung I’m Every Woman together with the late great singer even going through a hologram costume change.

But it wasn’t meant to be…

Pat dropped a statement regarding the hologram, making special note that it seemed to be an issue with the image’s technology, and not something surrounding Christina (below):

“We are so appreciative of the opportunity for the Whitney Houston hologram to appear on NBC’s The Voice with a talent pairing as extraordinary as Christina Aguilera and Whitney Houston. We were looking to deliver a groundbreaking duet performance for the fans of both artists. Holograms are new technology that take time to perfect, and we believe with artists of this iconic caliber, it must be perfect. Whitney’s legacy and her devoted fans deserve perfection. After closely viewing the performance, we decided the hologram was not ready to air. We have much respect and appreciation for Christina, and she was absolutely flawless.”

It wasn’t just Pat that had reservations about the hologram, though.

A source speaking to Us revealed NBC execs were uncertain whether the performance would be good enough for the show’s finale next week, saying:

“They didn’t like the quality of the hologram in HD.”

Well then!

Guess we’ll just have to wait to see this hologram until a later date… like, on its very own worldwide tour!

In the meantime, the two-part season finale of The Voice can be seen on NBC on May 23 and 24 at 8 p.m. EST — with no holograms! LOLz!
