All in the family!
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child kicks off next month, and we can’t wait to find out what happens in the next part of the wizarding saga.
Not much is known about J.K. Rowling‘s stage play, other than that it follows a grown-up Harry as a father of three working at the Ministry of Magic.
But now, we finally get to see the first look of the middle-aged titular character and his family!
Pottermore released character portraits for the upcoming eighth HP story, featuring an adult Harry (Jamie Parker), Ginny Potter (Poppy Miller), and their young son Albus Severus Potter (Sam Clemmett).
Rowling could not be more satisfied with the cast — when asked about Parker’s transformation into The Boy Who Lived, she gushed:
“He simply is Harry now. There’s a kind of relief in watching him, he gets it so right.”
As for Miller playing a grown up Ginny, the author noted she was “kind and cool, exactly as I imagined her.”
But when speaking about Clemmett’s portrayal of the “cursed child” referenced in the title, Rowling didn’t want to give much away, adding:
“There’s much I could say about Sam-as-Albus, but we’d be into spoiler territory so quickly I’ll just say we couldn’t have cast better.”
The first look on Pottermore came with a tease that more characters will be revealed within the next few days — so, hopefully we’ll get a look at Paul Thornley‘s Ron and Noma Dumezweni‘s Hermione sooner than later!
Ch-ch-check out the first look of the Potter fam (above) to get excited for the official opening performances of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Part One and Part Two on Saturday July 30!
