Ummm, WHAT?

On Thursday, it was reported that the Bachelor alum Ben Higgins is thinking of running for public office in Denver, Colorado. Yep, the man who thought he was unlovable now wants to be a politician!

According to The Colorado Independent, the reality TV star is “seriously” considering a run for a seat in the Colorado House of Representatives. Oh man.

Higgins is best known for being the software consultant that broke current Bachelorette JoJo Fletcher‘s heart when he proposed to Lauren Bushnell in season 20. And it appears that this bit of news is NOT a joke as the 28-year-old’s even set up a website in order to gain local support in House District 4. Mind blown!

We definitely thought Ben was more of a Dancing With The Stars type. Anywho, the TV personality is currently eyeing the contested seat belonging to Speaker Pro Tem Dan Pabon. The Democratic politician faced controversy back on St. Patrick’s Day when he was arrested for a DUI.

Nonetheless, the Republicans in Ben’s area have already tapped Willie Pinkston to run against Pabon. However, Willie “definitely” wants to step aside when Ben decides to run. He shared:

“I’d be happy to. He’s got name recognition … we’d love to support him since he wants to run and is capable.”

Huh. Despite reports claiming that Higgins has already discussed state policy and politics with local lawmakers, Ben is staying rather coy about his intentions to run. The heartthrob noted:

“Whatever lies ahead, love, grace, and hope are ideals that guide my life. I will take them with me into my next adventure. Lauren and I aren’t sure yet what that will be, but in terms of representing House District 4, Willie Pinkston is an amazing person and any decision I make regarding entering the race will be based on what is best for Willie, his family, and for Lauren and me.”

Here’s hoping Ben announces his candidacy sooner than later. Stay tuned!
