He’s with her├óΓé¼┬ª almost!
Earlier this week, Bernie Sanders was mathematically eliminated from the Democratic race when Hillary Clinton scored enough delegates to become the party’s presumptive nominee — leaving many to wonder if he would run as an independent.
But it looks like the Vermont Senator is embracing the whole “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em” philosophy we all too often see in politics!
That’s right! On Thursday, Sanders officially pledged to join forces with Clinton because — why else? — “to make sure Donald Trump does not become president of the United States.”
After a private White House meeting with President Obama — who shortly after announced his endorsement for Hil — Bernie announced at a press conference that he would be teaming up with his Democratic rival, saying:
“I look forward to meeting with [Clinton] in the near future to see how we can work together to defeat Donald Trump and to create a government that represents all of us and not just the 1 percent.”
But these foes haven’t turned into friends just yet, as the 74-year-old assured supporters he will “of course” be competing in the upcoming primary in Washington D.C. — the very last of which in the nomination race.
We love that Bernie is joining forces with Hillary while STILL taking his campaign until the bitter end — and hope this means we’ll see him on Hillary’s ticket!
