Somewhere, Donald Trump is seething…
Larissa Martinez is the valedictorian at her Texas high school with a 4.95 GPA, who also happens to be an illegal immigrant!
At her June 3 graduation, the 18-year-old used her speech to reveal to her class that she is “one of the 11 million undocumented immigrants living in the shadows of the United States.”
The McKinney Boyd High School graduate explained that she, her mother, and her sister left an abusive and alcoholic father in Mexico City when she was just 11 years old.
The teen and her family arrived in the US on tourist visas in 2010. Now, Martinez has accepted a full scholarship to Yale University and wants to become a neurosurgeon.
Addressing her graduating class, she said:
“After all these years I’ve mustered up the courage to stand before you and share a struggle I’ve had to deal with each and every day├óΓé¼┬ª Immigrants — undocumented or not– are people, too├óΓé¼┬ª People who have become part of the American society and way of life and who yearn to make America great again without the constriction of a wall built on hatred and prejudice.”
So powerful and brave!
We have a feeling this is just the first of many great things to come in this young woman’s future!
