Orlando Shooting: Mother Who Pled For End To Hatred Has Been Told Her Son Is Among The Dead

How devastating.

On Monday, we learned the horrible news that another victim has been lost to the senseless violence that took place at Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida this past weekend.

Christine Leinonen appeared on national television shortly after the shooting to make a desperate plea for her son Christopher Leinonen‘s safety and stricter gun control. It was beyond heartbreaking to watch.

Sadly, today the city of Orlando did add Christopher’s name to the list of dead. Christopher’s boyfriend Juan Ramon Guerrero was also killed in the shooting.

As for who her son was as a person, Christine praised him as a LGBT activist who previously established at gay-straight alliance at his high school. Chris went on to receive a humanitarian award as a result of his efforts.

Since we think gun control is so important, we’ll leave you here with Christine’s passionate message about hate and assault weapons:

“Can we do something with the assault weapons so that we can stop this ├óΓé¼┬ª I beg all of you, please. I wanted to let you know about my son. ├óΓé¼┬ª We’re on this Earth for such a short time. Let’s try to get rid of the hatred and the violence.”
