What a terrible end to an already tragic situation.
Unfortunately, it’s with a heavy heart that we must report that Florida officials have reportedly found Lane Graves‘ body about 18 hours he was first pulled under water.
According to Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings, a dive team first noticed remains of what they expected to be the Nebraska boy’s body underwater at around 1:45 p.m. EST on Wednesday, but it wasn’t until 3:30 p.m. EST that the body was finally pulled out of the lake.
Florida Fish and Wildlife Executive Director Nick Wiley said in a press conference that they have already tracked down five alligators, and will compare bite marks to see which animal killed the child.
Disney does have “No Swimming” signs posted along the beach, but we don’t think many tourists would expect a vacation destination to have gators freely swimming around their waters.
Our thoughts are with Lane’s family at this unimaginably difficult time.
