In the wake of tragedy, one photographer discovered a truly surreal phenomenon.
On Monday, the 49 victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting were being read at a vigil in Orlando, when a photographer in the crowd noticed a flock of birds flying by.
After snapping a photo, she was “stunned” to discover there were exactly 49 birds in the frame.
She later told reporters:
“I then showed everyone around me and had them count. We were all stunned.”
The photographer was mourning the loss of a friend during the candlelight vigil held at the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center when she noticed the birds, adding:
“Seeing the birds made me feel a sense of peace about the tragedy.”
Strangely enough, the birds were not released for the vigil. A spokesman for the Arts Center said that the tranquil flock was a surprise to them as well.
While 49 doves were released at another vigil in Lakeland, Florida about 60 miles away, the birds in the picture appear to be black — which many took to mean the victims were present at the vigil in another form.
Definitely not the same birds…
The photographer wishes to remain anonymous, because she would rather people focus on the bigger picture, adding:
“Who took the photo is not as important as what is in it. May everyone find healing and peace.”
Do YOU think the poignant flock was just a coincidence, or something more?
