Sad news.

On Wednesday, young adult writer Lois Duncan passed away at her home near Sarasota, Florida. She was 82 years old.

As you may know, Miz Duncan was known for penning classics like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Hotel For Dogs — which were both made into major motion pictures. Not to mention, the thriller writer also wrote 50 other titles during her career. Wow!

While an Albuquerque-based private investigator confirmed the industry vet’s death on Thursday, it’s said her husband Don also announced on Facebook that she had collapsed in their kitchen the day before. Not to mention, Duncan reportedly had been having trouble walking prior to her passing.

In addition to her vast work in fiction, Lois also wrote a non-fiction book about the murder of her youngest child Kaitlyn titled, Who Killed My Daughter?.

The mother of five was also at one time a journalism professor at the University of New Mexico and is survived by her husband and their children Robin, Kerry, Brett, and Donnie.
