Over the weekend, a 19-year-old British man by the name of Michael Steven Sandford was arrested after he allegedly tried to shoot and kill Donald Trump at a rally in Las Vegas, Nevada!
On Monday, a federal complaint was filed against the teenager as he faces one count of attempting to commit physical violence on restricted grounds.
It all went down last Saturday when Sandford walked up to a Vegas police officer Trump’s rally at the Treasure Island Casino and pretended to ask for an autograph.
The Brit apparently noticed that the policeman’s gun was in an unlocked position and reached it with both hands before being caught and arrested!
The legal documentation states that the young man wanted “to kill Trump” and “reasoned [a police officer’s weapon] would be the easiest way to acquire a gun to shoot Trump.”
The scariest part? is the complaint also states that if Sandford “were on the street tomorrow, he would try this again.” YIKES!
The suspect reportedly told officers he’d had a plan to kill Donald for about a year and was pretty sure he would lose his own life in the process. Though Michael was obviously caught in the act, he also had bought a ticket to the Phoenix, AZ rally as a backup plan.
On top of that, the deranged man also told police he went to the Battlefield Vegas shooting range the previous Friday to learn how to use a gun; authorities later found proof this was true.
The Brit only had a UK driver’s license on him at the time, but he apparently told Secret Service agents that he had been in the U.S. for a year living in Hoboken, New jersey. Unsurprisingly, Sandford was denied bail in court on Monday. He has not yet entered a plea.
Though there hasn’t been any word yet from the GOP candidate, we can’t even begin to imagine the fear something like this could cause. Regardless of whether or not you agree with him (you shouldn’t), or think he’s a deplorable person (he is), there is NO reason for any sort of violence!
