At the Hollywood BFG premiere on Tuesday night, director Steven Spielberg spoke to Access Hollywood about Yelchin’s personality and amazing work ethic. Mr. Spielberg had nothing but good things to say about the 27-year-old who passed away in a horrific accident involving his Jeep.

Spielberg, who worked with Anton since he was young (ER, Taken, Fright Night), said of his unforgettable essence:

“He was a lovely young man. He was a gentleman. He was a serious actor, and he didn’t have his sights set on anything specific ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ he just loved working, and good things happen to people who just want to work.”

What an apt description! Those who knew A.Y. have consistently praised his dedication to film making — not to mention everyone agrees that he didn’t use drugs.

The 69-year-old went on to add:

“… he kept impressing people because he was so good. He kept getting these great parts.”

How bittersweet. While it’s wonderful to hear of Mr. Yelchin’s long lasting impression on Hollywood, it’s also sad to know that he’ll no longer appear on the small or big screen.

Rest easy, Anton.
