This is terrifying.
On Thursday, Chicago police got a disturbing call saying that Sinead O’Connor was suicidal and planning to jump off a bridge in the Illinois city.
The 49-year-old had apparently called her family to tell them she was going to kill herself, and then dialed the cops in Dublin, Ireland to tell them where she was planning to take her life.
Irish authorities then contacted Chicago police to notify them of the scary situation. An alert on the CPD scanner said:
“The word from the Ireland police sergeant Claire Mulligan, Dublin, Ireland, is saying that at 1530 hours Sinead O’Connor called and said, ‘I’m on a bridge in Chicago and I’m going to jump.'”
Whoa. So scary.
While authorities are not undergoing an active search, they have been instructed to keep an eye out for the songwriter. In fact, sources say cops thought they saw someone fitting the description, but that person was not the troubled singer.
The Irish artist has had suicidal thoughts in the past, and has struggled with depression recently.
We just hope she’s safe. Our hearts are with everyone effected during this terrifying time.
