That’s because we’re hearing reports that a peaceful meeting with the Dalai Lama on Sunday just got the Cheek to Cheek singer banned from China for the second time in her career!
According to Chinese news outlet Next Media, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei issued a statement condemning Lady GaGa for involving herself in Tenzin Gyatso‘s Tibetan independence propaganda, saying:
“We hope that people from the international community can be fully aware of his true colors and nature.”
The Publicity Department of China echoed his sentiments with the official ban going in place on Monday, saying:
“We need to fight against any propaganda fanning the flames of Tibet independence movement.”
Unfortunately for Little Monsters from China, this ban includes ALL types of media — which means everything from American Horror Story to Artpop!
Of course, this is not the first time Lady GaGa’s music has been banned from the country. The 30-year-old singer was blacklisted in 2011 due to the lyrics on Born This Way‘s track Government Hooker before being reinstated in 2014.
Still, we’re happy to see her fighting for what she believes in… even if it does hurt her international fame!
