Friendship never ends for the Spice Girls — but it almost did!

The world was shocked when Geri Horner quit Britain’s biggest girl group in May 1998, but no one was more upset than fellow bandmate Emma Bunton.

Just in time for the 20th anniversary of the group’s smash hit Wannabe, Baby Spice revealed there was a rift between her and Ginger Spice after her “older sister” famously departed the band and broke the hearts of millions of fans!

Speaking to Grazia, the 40-year-old confessed she and Geri were “so close,” which led to a falling out after the singer’s abrupt exit. She said:

“I was so close to Geri – she was like my older sister. It took me a while to forgive her. We probably didn’t speak for about a year.”

Wow! Clearly, Geri’s exit had a huge impact on (at least one of) her Girls!

Though it wasn’t so much the loss of a bandmate that hurt Bunton, but more so the abandonment of a friend.

She remembered thinking:

“I didn’t think anything other than ├óΓé¼╦£Oh, I’m going to miss my friend who looks after me!'”

But time — and girl power — heals all wounds! These days, the two are the best of friends, and the admiration of Ginger Spice has even been passed down to Bunton’s son!

She explained:

“Music isn’t my eldest’s thing but my youngest Tate ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ who is five ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ is absolutely obsessed with the Spice Girls. I’m not his favourite though, he likes Geri.”

Finding out about the year long rift between Baby and Ginger Spice is actually good news — because it gives us hope that all 5 performers will reunite one day!
