So much drama going down at FOX News!
After Gretchen Carlson‘s sexual harassment allegations continue to fester against company CEO Roger Ailes, now current FOX News host Greta Van Susteren is getting involved — and she’s decided to side with her boss.
Van Susteren, who has been at the network with her show On The Record for more than 15 years, didn’t hold back in criticizing the cable news powerhouse’s former host Carlson, telling People (below) she thought the harassment allegations might be related to… TV ratings:
“Of course, the first thing that occurred to me is that, unfortunately, we have a disgruntled employee, a colleague. I read that her show wasn’t being renewed and, being a lawyer, I thought she got angry. I deal with Roger Ailes often. I’ve often been alone with Roger Ailes in his office over the course of 15 years and I’ve never seen anything like what I’m reading about in the papers and the magazine.”
Never mind that there is ample public evidence of sexism at FOX, Van Susteren is already ready to conclude Carlson is just a disgruntled employee??
Van Susteren’s contention, apparently, is that because she didn’t hear about it, it probably didn’t happen:
“People come to me because I’ve been there so long. That’s why this doesn’t have any ring of truth to me. I would have heard it. People don’t keep things silent.”
Above all, though, Van Susteren kept going back to her own personal experience with Ailes in clapping back against Carlson’s lawsuit, concluding:
“If Roger Ailes were how he’s described, there’s no way I would’ve stuck around. I don’t feel like putting up with that stuff and I wouldn’t. Even if he weren’t doing it to me, I wouldn’t want to work in that environment. I sort of feel bad for Gretchen Carlson because it’s sort of a weird thing that she’s done. What she’s alleging is something that is alien to me. I’ve never heard it.”
Just because you didn’t hear it…
Anyways, looks like a currently employed TV host sided with their TV exec boss. What a surprise…
