Remember Chewbacca Mom?! She’s baaa-aaack!
The Texas native (real name Candace Payne) rose to incredible viral fame with a HIGHlarious video and then a subsequent media whirlwind a few months back — and now, she’s doing it again!
The amazing momma posted a Facebook video on Saturday that’s already been viewed 3.2 million times — and the message is SO touching!!
In response to the tragedy that occurred earlier this week in Dallas — Chewbacca Mom lives half an hour away in a town called Grand Prairie — she decided to perform a cover of Michael Jackson‘s Heal The World, describing her reasons why:
“I’ve been spreading joy, and I’ve been hoping to do that, but I found myself over the last couple days being silent because I’ve been so sad and so hurt by what’s going on. … I’m very nervous to just share this with you because it’s so vulnerable, but I felt like someone needs to sing these lyrics again and sing them over our world and just be a good reminder.”
And after the delivered those words, she went right into a rousing performance, backing her voice with a simple piano accompaniment.
Ch-ch-check out the touching, sweet video (below)!
The world is weird, uncertain, and scary, but we can firmly say that Chewbacca Mom is absolutely doing her part to heal it!
