According to a local news station in Tennessee, Craig’s son Jerry Greer has gone missing following a boating accident on July 10. Jerry is just 19-years-old and he recently graduated high school.

Per eyewitness accounts, Greer and his friend were tubing when they were unexpectedly thrown from the tube. While both boys were wearing life jackets, Jerry did not resurface unlike his friend.

Authorities have been searching all night and this morning but they still have yet to locate the teenager. It’s truly a heartbreaking situation all around.

What’s especially scary is that the body of water where Jerry disappeared can reach depths of fifteen feet — boating accident expert Matt Majors also revealed that the search area is between five to ten acres:

“It is a big area that we’re looking at so we’re going to try and review the statements that we have from our eyewitnesses and narrow that down today.”

Wow. What a daunting situation.

In a statement to E! News, the Morgan family rep said:

“Recent Dickson County High School graduate Jerry Greer (19), son of country music entertainer Craig Morgan and wife Karen Greer, went missing yesterday following a boating accident on Kentucky Lake in Humphreys County, Tennessee. Recovery efforts to locate him are underway. The family is grateful for everyone’s support and prayers and requests privacy during this difficult time.”

So sad.

Following the tragic news, a few of Craig’s pals took to social media to express their support:

Here’s to hoping Jerry is located sooner than later. Our thoughts continue to be with Morgan’s family.
