Well, so much for that!
Yesterday, we reported that Ben Higgins had filed papers to run for office as a Republican in a local election in his home state of Colorado… and not even 24 hours later, the whole thing is already up in smoke!
On Friday morning, The Bachelor star released a very unexpected statement about needing to drop out of the race for a state Congressional seat representing Colorado’s House District 4, saying:
“I regret that I must withdraw my candidacy. Despite my best efforts to pursue this opportunity in good faith, I recently received information that has made such a pursuit unworkable. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I will not be able to move forward as a candidate. I find solace in knowing that our intentions and actions have been fair and sincere. I entered into this endeavor wanting to bring positive change to my community, and it is with that same spirit that I will move forward, albeit on a different path.”
Obviously, this is pretty strange considering that ONE DAY AGO it was announced that he filed papers to run in the first place, and doubly so that another Republican in the district actually got out of the way so that Higgins could run!
Additionally, the Democratic incumbent he had been up against, Dan Pabon, was arrested on St. Patrick’s Day on DUI charges — and a 0.14 blood-alcohol content. So it should have been a pretty easy victory.
Maybe it’s just too tough for voters to trust the man who broke JoJo Fletcher‘s heart! Ha!!
