The Tower of Terror is about to plummet to the ground faster than you can say, “I am Groot.”
Earlier this year, rumors surfaced that the iconic Disneyland ride would be gutted out and remade into a new Guardians of the Galaxy attraction.
Despite a public outcry from Disney traditionalists to leave the beloved Twilight Zone-themed thrill ride alone, it looks like the spooky elevator will be permanently closing its doors sooner than later.
Over the weekend, Disney revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy — Mission: BREAKOUT! would be opening at Disney California Adventure park in the summer of 2017, sharing on Twitter:
In an announcement clip, Imagineer Joe Rohoe revealed that the attraction would take place in a “warehouse fortress power plant” where the collector is keeping the Guardians prisoner — and guests will have to help them escape in the high-energy adventure.
This attraction sounds like a great time, though fans couldn’t help but notice the concept artwork for the ride bares a striking resemblance to the Tower of Terror!
The park didn’t officially say the fan favorite ride was being torn down yet, but park-goers are already freaking out over a Disney classic being replaced by a Marvel thrill ride!
Are YOU excited for Mission: BREAKOUT! at Disneyland, or would you rather keep the Tower of Terror preserved?
