This is wild!!
The GOP offered Justin Bieber $5 million to perform at an event during the Republican National Convention last week, and he nearly took the deal — until his manager Scooter Braun threatened to quit over it!!
The Biebs, repped by talent agency CAA, would have had to perform for just 45 minutes one night last week at a venue not even at the RNC’s main location in Cleveland, and this by far would have been his biggest payday ever.
Apparently, Republican officials and the promoter who pushed the deal told Justin the event was “not political,” and the Biebs was going to get the $5 million up front (!) without having to endorse Donald Trump or anything like that, but thankfully, smarter heads prevailed in the Bieber camp
While it would have been the Sorry singer’s single biggest payday EVER, manager Braun — who is a big Hillary Clinton supporter — was NOT feeling it.
The event promoters told Justin he could not display Black Lives Matter banners, but the donors would allow signs reading “All Lives Matter,” which… ridiculous!!
According to TMZ, both Justin’s manager and agency felt the event was “100 percent political,” and Braun even became “heavy-handed” in urging Justin not to accept the offer.
Maybe the most surprising aspect to all this is that Braun gave Bieber an ultimatum about the show: if you perform here, I walk away from repping you.
Even worse, the promoters putting it all together claimed to the Purpose star that LeBron James was attending an event in Cleveland around the RNC, but wasn’t taking a political stand about it, either.
Justin’s crew got in touch with James’ and found out THAT was a lie! LBJ revealed he wasn’t going to be in Cleveland at all for the event, and allegedly also urged the Biebs NOT to do the show!
Furthermore, the Biebs’ entire backing band is black, and none of them wanted to do the RNC show, either.
ALL this combined to Justin deciding, in the end, to walk away from the $5 million.
