We can’t imagine what Anton Yelchin‘s parents have been going through since the death of their son back in June.
The Star Trek Beyond actor passed away when his 2015 Jeep Cherokee rolled backwards, leaving him pinned against his security gate. In the aftermath of his death, it was revealed the specific model was part of a voluntary recall because of a flaw with the e-stick which caused drivers to unintentionally leave their cars in neutral instead of parked.
A class action suit was then filed against Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, the company which owns Jeep.
Well on Monday, TMZ reported the 27-year-old’s parents, Irina and Viktor Yelchin, have hired a lawyer and are planning to file a lawsuit against the corporation for punitive damages in “the wrongful death of their son due to significant defects.”
They’re also looking to sue ZF North America, which manufactured the vehicle, and AutoNation, where Anton seemingly bought his car from.
We’ll keep you update with any news of a forthcoming suit.
