Well this isn’t good!
TV ratings for last night’s opening ceremonies at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil were 25% LOWER than the same opening ceremonies in London just four years ago!
Last night’s opening ceremony presentation on NBC received just a 17.2 overnight Nielsen rating, too — and that’s compared to London’s 23 Nielsen rating from four years earlier!
An Olympic Games’ opening ceremonies hasn’t been this low-rated since the 1984 Winter Olympics in Sarajevo! Yikes!!!
Obviously, for NBC, it was still something of a win — they more than tripled the rest of their Big 4 (ABC, CBS, and FOX) competition during the event, which is to be expected.
But wow — there are WAY fewer people watching the Olympics this year than there were four years ago!
Was it due to online streaming of the ceremony?! (NBC did get 42 million people worldwide to tune in on their streaming look-in.)
Or are people just way less interested than they have been in the past??
What’d U think — did U watch?! Let us know in the comments (below)!
