Over the last week, there have been a lot of rumors flying around about Adele performing at 2017’s Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show — and now it sounds like we might have the REAL story!

As you may know, the 28-year-old singer addressed the hearsay by confirming that she was offered the gig, but she told the audience at one of her concerts in El Lay that she “politely declined” — but that’s not what the NFL and Pepsi are saying!

After the songstress addressed her fans Saturday night, the sports league and soft drink company released a joint statement saying:

“The NFL and Pepsi are big fans of Adele. We have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, we have not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else. We are focused on putting together a fantastic show for Houston and we look forward to revealing that in good time.”

Oops, sorry, Adele!

Though there might have been some confusion on the Brit’s end about the offer, there’s a very good chance that the Hello singer shot down the idea before the businesses had a chance to make a formal offer!

As bummed as we are about the Grammy winner not wanting to perform, we’re definitely hopeful the show will be almost as AH-Mazing. LOLz!

Don’t forget to keep February 5, 2017 free on your calendars so you can watch the big game — or at least the halftime show!
