Even false alarms can still be terrifying.

That’s what those who were at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday night found out when erroneous reports of an active shooter caused extreme chaos.

Among the travelers caught up in the mayhem were Josh Gad and Lester Holt, who both tweeted about the pandemonium that fortunately turned out to be a false alarm.

The Frozen actor and the NBC Nightly News host both evacuated the airport around 9 p.m., after word of a shooting threat spread.

Even though it turned out there was no real danger, Gad — who was with his children at the time — said the incident was still “awful,” sharing on Twitter:

We can only imagine what his brain was going through at the time!

Like Gad, Holt was also caught up in the drama, and did his own little investigation to figure out how exactly the confusion broke out, sharing:

Moments before reports of the active shooter spread throughout the airport, police detained a middle aged man wearing a Zorro costume who claimed he was waiting for a ride outside.

Though it remains unclear if the gunfire reports were related to the individual — who was holding a wooden sword — it was one scary, surreal night at LAX.

Thankfully, all reports of the shooter were false and no one was hurt.
