Zendaya‘s getting a well-deserved apology!
The singer shared a series of videos describing her encounter with a rude cashier, saying she believed the employee had an issue with the color of her skin.

After all that, the grocery store has issued an apology to the actress, saying:
“At Vons, we strive to treat each and every customer with the utmost respect. There is a policy that limits gift card purchases using a credit card. Zendaya was able to purchase gift cards up to our limit, and we apologize for any inconvenience or misunderstanding.”
The chain had also previously insisted the incident was not racially motivated, instead saying the California native was trying to buy $400 worth of gift cards, when their policy capped gift card purchases at $200.
And even though they are adamant that the Shake It Up alum’s difficult experience didn’t have anything to do with her skin, Vons did acknowledge that racism is still a very prominent problem in our society, adding:
“We respect Zendaya’s voice in the community and similarly are committed to diversity and inclusion. Moreover, we understand that race is a sensitive issue in America and view this experience as a reminder that every interaction is an opportunity to treat each customer as we ourselves would like to be treated.”
