Did Lady GaGa Pull A Taylor Swift?? See Why Perfect Illusion Might Be All About Her Taylor Kinney Breakup!

No, your ears aren’t playing a trick on you… she’s really back!

While Perfect Illusion isn’t necessarily our favorite song Lady GaGa‘s ever done, it’s impossible to listen to it without taking the lyrics to heart.

It’s been nearly two months since Mother Monster and Taylor Kinney shockingly called off their engagement, and now a lead single all about how “it wasn’t love…” definitely has us questioning everything we thought we knew about their relationship!

For one thing, the very first line doesn’t make it seem like the ArtPop singer nor Chicago Fire actor really ever made enough time for each other:

Tryin’ to get control / Pressure’s takin’ its toll / Stuck in the middle zone / I just want you alone.”

Sad sad.

Pair that with the rather matter-of-fact chorus, and we think it’s safe to say we all mistook GaGa and Taylor’s lust for love!

But don’t just take our word for it… Stefani actually explained the song’s meaning to the BBC on Friday morning, saying:

“How do we navigate through social media? How do we look through these images that we know are filtered and altered, and decipher what is reality and what is a perfect illusion? There are also a lot of things on the Internet that are not reality… and I think people are pressured to keep that personal illusion going on in their real lives.

C’mon, vague.

Is she obliquely referring to how the media portrayed her relationship? Or is the song purely a work of fiction??
