Prosecutors in the San Francisco Bay area have charged seven current and former police officers tied to a growing sex abuse scandal — and more may be coming!
The scandal first surfaced in 2015 when Celeste Guap (pictured, above) claimed she had sex with about 30 officers throughout the Bay Area, which launched a year-long sexual misconduct investigation.
What’s more, the 19-year-old prostitute claimed she had sex with four of the officers before she turned 18, and occasionally traded sex for protection from arrest or tips about planned prostitution stings!
The scandal began to unfold last September when Oakland police began investigating the suicide of one of its officers. As the truth came out over the summer, three officers implicated in the scandal resigned.
In a press conference on Friday, Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O’Malley announced the seven officers face charges of oral copulation with a minor, engaging in a lewd act, engaging in prostitution, and obstruction of justice.
Mayor Libby Schaaf said disciplinary action has begun against a dozen offending officers.
In addition to the dismissal of four Oakland cops, seven will serve a range of unpaid suspensions — while another is required to attend training classes — before returning to duty.
As for Guap, she was arrested last week for aggravated battery after allegedly attacking a security officer at a voluntary rehab clinic in Florida.
