But in the October issue of Elle, The Voice coach relates how guilty she feels about being a privileged celebrity in a world where so many people are suffering.

She explains:

“[A year ago] I had to do the [A Very Murray Christmas] premiere, and I will never do a red carpet again. Why, when people are starving, am I on a carpet that’s red? Because I’m ‘important’? Because I’m ‘famous’? That’s not how I roll. It’s like a skit├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥it’s like Zoolander.”

And the guilt can sometimes be overwhelming:

“For a long time, I couldn’t sleep because I just felt so guilty. I was covered in rashes because I was so stressed. Even today, I dropped my water on my hike and felt like such an a–hole. There are children being sold into sex slavery; how can I go on a hike right now? So now I try to do as much as I can through Happy Hippie.”

The 23-year-old also addresses some other topics (below):

On Britney Spears: “[My manager Adam Leber] works with her; we’ve stayed close because of that. She’s a little distant in her world. I just want Britney to be happy. Every time she puts out new music, I’m like, ‘Is that what she wants to be doing? Or does she just want to chill?’ She’s looking so good right now, and looking happy.” On Snapchat and Pokemon Go: “No. I want to be [on Snapchat]. I don’t know how to use it. I feel like I’ll be an old lady that’s too held back, because I don’t keep up with it. I’m not on Pok├â┬⌐mon Go. [This morning] Liam [Hemsworth] woke up and tried to go to the car wash because it was a├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥what do you call it?├óΓé¼ΓÇ¥Pok├â┬⌐Spot. Like, “Got to go find them and catch them all! Ahh!”

On advice for her Voice protegees: “├óΓé¼┬ªI don’t want this to come off the wrong way, but I’m going to tell my contestants: Be Bernie Sanders. Be the person people want and love. Don’t worry about the masses. That’s how you make a memorable moment. Let people talk about it.”

Be Bernie Sanders? Hmm, we’ll see how that advice works out on this season of the show!
