Earlier in the week, the America’s Got Talent judge dished to reporters his true feelings about his lack of involvement in the 1D members’ careers since announcing their hiatus. Awkward!
The industry vet dished:
“I hear so many things now, which they’re doing, which I’m not involved with. It’s a bit like I’m getting the hint you don’t want me to come to the party.”
YIKES! Cowell, not being one to ever hold back, added:
“Sorry for making you famous.”
Dang! Tell us how you REALLY feel, man!
As you may recall, Zayn Malik (the first of the singers to leave the famous boy band) is currently working on a TV series inspired by the time he spent in the group and is also penning a tell-all memoir. Unfortunately, the former American Idol judge has NOTHING to do with these particular projects — a fact he isn’t thrilled about. Not to mention, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Liam Payne all seem to be moving forward with their own plans to go solo.
Don’t feel too badly for Simon as he isn’t too estranged from his former prot├â┬⌐g├â┬⌐s. He continued:
“I’m very close with some of them, like Louis [Tomlinson] and Harry [Styles] is an example, and the great thing about those two is that we sit back and we laugh about all of the crazy times we had and the fun times we had and they’ve enjoyed it.”
Well that’s good to hear! Although, it appears as though the 56-year-old has no interest in hearing any negativity the X Factor alums may have to say about their time in 1D as he told the press:
“You have to look at it that way because it’s not a prison sentence. It’s an opportunity.”
Tell that to Zayn — WE TEASE! Obviously, Simon “would have liked” for the guys to have reached out to him as they moved onto new projects but he seems (sort of) happy for the teen heartbreakers. He noted:
“Look, I’m not going to lie when I hear they’re doing something and they haven’t approached me. You think, ‘Well I would have liked you to,’ but it’s their choice… I’m not bitter ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£ much.”
Whatever you gotta tell yourself, buddy! LOLz!
Regardless, Simon is still holding out hope for a One Direction reunion as he concluded:
“I hope there will be a reunion, yeah. Yeah. You never know.”
We’d literally DIE if all of the boys (yes, we’re looking at you Z) decided to reunite! Sigh!
