We’re still just so thankful no one was killed.
It’s been a terrifying past few days in New York City and surrounding areas after an intentional explosion injured 29 people in Chelsea with additional bombs discovered throughout New Jersey.
Luckily, authorities believe they arrested the man responsible for the terrorist attacks — 28-year-old Ahmad Khan Rahami — on Monday morning after a shootout with police in Linden, N.J.
Following news of the arrest, President Barack Obama addressed the bombings in a press conference from New York where he had a special message for future terrorists, saying:
“Folks around here don’t get scared — they’re tough, they’re resilient. They go about their business every single day. That kind of toughness and resoluteness and the recognition that neither individuals nor organizations like ISIL can ultimately undermine our way of life.
That’s the kind of strength that makes me proud to be an American. That’s the kind of strength that’s gonna be absolutely critical not just in the days to come, but in the years to come. By showing those who want to do us harm that they will never beat us. By showing the entire world that as Americans we do not, and never will give into fear. That’s gonna be the most important ingredient in defeating those who would carry out terrorist attacks against us.”
