This is a BIG deal.
In an interview with his local blog the Dentonite, My Name Is Earl alum Jason Lee dropped a major bomb about his current involvement with Scientology.
According to Jason, he no longer practices the controversial religion despite DECADES of membership.
The revelation is pretty crazy considering his first marriage broke up due to Scientology. Lee’s ex Carmen Llwelyn once claimed the actor sent her a “disconnect letter” after she innocently questioned the religion.
To make matters even more curious, there were rumors in December 2015 that Jason’s current relationship with his wife Ceren Alka├â┬º was on the rocks thanks to Scientology.
Now that J.L. has relocated to Denton, Texas with Ceren and their two children (Jason has another son from a previous relationship), he has apparently decided to cut ties with the organization.
The celeb explained:
“Being that we don’t practice Scientology, and that we aren’t particularly interested in opening religious centers in general, we have no plans to open a Scientology center. Quite a few rumors about me/us floating around but none of it’s true. We’re not here to buy up or change or take over Denton, put some kind of personal stamp on it.”
Wow! We wonder if Leah Remini‘s explosive tell-all book about the religion influenced his decision. Or maybe Lee realized how the church was ruining his relationships.
These days, it looks like Jason is spending more time with his family and expanding on his hobbies (photography, skateboarding, and community development). Considering Denton is a creative town on the rise, it makes sense this is where the 46-year-old is planting his roots.
So, what do YOU think of this development?
