Well, it’s always good to give back!

Despite all the drama that Johnny Depp has been through regarding his very public divorce with Amber Heard, it looks like there’s a spot of positivity coming up for the 53-year-old!

In what will be the actor’s first public appearance since his divorce settlement from Heard, Johnny will accept the inaugural Rhonda’s Kiss Healing and Hope Award for his charitable cancer donations over the years at a concert being put on at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

The organization, Rhonda’s Kiss, is hosting the event on Thursday, November 3 and all proceeds will go to Cedars-Sinai Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute! If that’s not enough to get fans excited, Weezer will be performing and Sugar Ray‘s Mark McGrath will be emceeing.

After news broke of the honor, Johnny — who lost his mother earlier this year to a long illness — released a statement saying:

“Cancer affects many lives and this year it was my family’s turn. The team at Cedars-Sinai works tirelessly to help people in their darkest moments. Their work is invaluable to all of us, and I will support any opportunity to help shine a light on the cause through Rhonda’s Kiss.”

Dr. Mirhadi, a doctor at Cedars-Sinai, said of the actor turned rocker:

“The contributions Johnny has continually made in honor of his mother have been instrumental in helping us to develop the kind of research we need to move the needle forward in the fight against lung cancer.”

The praises continued as Dr. Mirhadi also said the Depp made “regular visits” with patients and has been “instrumental in supporting research on lung cancer in our department at Cedars-Sinai.”

You may or may not be surprised to learn this isn’t the first time Depp has been honored for his work in charity. Back in 2006, the actor also received the Courage To Care award in recognition of his contributions to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Speaking of, you probably also heard he’s donating the $7 million that was awarded to Amber in their settlement agreement to charities on her request. However, the blonde beauty wasn’t too happy to find out about it and wanted the amount doubled knowing her ex could take advantage of the tax deductions!
