It’s so nice to hear more from Austin Swift!
In an interview with People Magazine, the typically private Austin got candid on Taylor Swift‘s long road to fame and their mother’s devastating cancer diagnosis. Considering Austin doesn’t speak out too often, we were all ears!
According to Mr. Swift, he was inspired by Tay from a young age, revealing:
“When we were kids, I saw Taylor write songs every day for years when there was no one to play them to.”
Yep, we can totally envision this. The singer was just destined to be a star!
The 24-year-old added:
“I remember watching her go door-to-door dropping off demo CD’s at labels that never called. She was there when she was performing at karaoke contests and in the corners of parties with the same enthusiasm she now plays to stadiums full of her fans. Having seen that example, how much goes in, how long it took … That’s always going to be bedrock for who I am and who I want to be.”
Aww! What an adorable compliment.
On a more serious note, Austin recalled the moment he learned of his Andrea Swift‘s cancer news and how his friends at the University of Notre Dame helped him to cope:
“An ocean of people rose up around me to offer support and open up about their own experiences. People were there for me and it transformed what could have been a very lonely, impossible time. I’ll never forget that.”
Phew… we’re glad the aspiring film maker had a support system during that difficult period. Good friends are invaluable!
P.S. Good luck with your movie career, Austin!
