Kate Hudson is at peace with her estrangement from her biological father.

As you may recall, musician Bill Hudson said back in June of 2015 that his daughter Kate and her brother Oliver Hudson were “dead” to him. Yikes!

However, on Wednesday, the Almost Famous alum commented on the current relationship she has with her poppa. During a candid chat with Howard Stern, Miz Hudson shared:

“I think forgiveness in any aspect is something that is complex. It is the greatest tool to be able to separate that attachment. So for me, I recognize whatever those issues are is something he has to live with. That must be painful for him and I forgive him.”

Wow. Talk about taking the high road!

Nonetheless, Bill and Kate are no longer on speaking terms. In regards to the dissolution of her relationship with the Hudson patriarch, the Mother’s Day actress continued:

“I never felt it was about losing interest. My mom never spoke poorly of him. I was a real tough little girl. I understood what was going on, I did understand that it didn’t have to do with me and Oliver.”

Thankfully, the blonde beauty’s had quite the paternal figure in stepdad Kurt Russell. She added:

“The trust I got from [Russell] in terms of his dependability was priceless for me.

I think when you grow up with parents like I did, competitiveness in this world is like a ‘no, no’. You get it right away. Kurt was great with that stuff when we were growing up. He is so honest, so brutally honest. I love him so much; he is just a great guy. He is an original. He doesn’t buy into things.”

So, it’s no wonder the A-lister wasn’t nervous to work with her momma’s famous lover in Deepwater Horizon. We’re honestly so happy to hear how at peace Kate is with her family situation. Bravo!
