What is going on!?
Clowns have been making headlines in the news over the past month, and not for their balloon animals.
Schools in Reading, Ohio were closed on Friday after a woman reported being attacked by a man dressed as a clown.
According to reports, officials shut down schools for the day out of concern for children who walk to school early after the clown also made threats against students.
Police said Kim Youngblood was on her porch smoking a cigarette when the clown appeared, reportedly grabbing her by the throat before stating:
“I should just kill you now.”
Youngblood told police the clown said “that some students and teachers would wish they were never born at the Jr. and Sr. High School today” — then fled after an alarm went off in a nearby apartment.
The male suspect — who briefly grabbed Youngblood’s throat harder before fleeing — was reportedly wearing a striped outfit, a red wig, and a white clown mask.
Police arrested a juvenile in connection with a clown threat in the area on Thursday, noting the suspect threatened to harm students at Colerain High School on Friday. Officials wrote in a Facebook post:
Earlier in the day, authorities said posts from a Twitter account called the Clown-Clan was “causing annoyance and alarm to communities,” having mentioned several Cincinnati communities and schools.
It’s unclear just how many sick clown-enthusiasts are at work here, so we hope everyone in the affected areas stays safe.
And, we can’t believe we’re saying this — be on the lookout for clowns…
