We’re not even sure why any more, but Melania Trump is standing by her man.
The wife of GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump, Melania just released her own statement about those now-infamous 2005 comments about women and sexual assault — and Melania is NOT pleased.
In a statement sent out to the media on Saturday, Melania kept it brief and stern, saying:
“The words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me. This does not represent the man that I know. He has the heart and mind of a leader. I hope people will accept his apology, as I have, and focus on the important issues facing our nation and the world.”
On the one hand, it’s unsurprising that Trump’s wife would choose to stand by him now — she’s in so deep already, what else is she supposed to do? — but the fact that she has to talk back these comments, about other women, that are so vulgar… yikes.
Meanwhile, Trump’s Vice Presidential pick, Governor Mike Pence of Indiana, is apparently “beside himself” in anger and his wife Karen is “furious” over Trump’s remarks — neither one a good sign for The Donald.
Pence released his own statement on Saturday, posting it to Twitter (below):
This is not good at all for the Republican Party — and it makes Pence look bad for even associating with The Donald in the first place!
What do U think, Perezcious readers?! Will Trump stay on the ticket and stay in the race?? Is this it for The Donald??
