Young Woman Tragically Dies After ‘Car Surfing’ Attempt Goes Horribly Wrong — Details Here

On Tuesday, it was revealed that a 21-year-old woman lost her life after recklessly “car surfing” — a dangerous activity that involves riding on top of a fast moving vehicle (as seen in the viral photo above).

It’s said the deceased, Wilberta Becenti (not pictured), was standing on top of a vehicle while another person was driving around on dirt roads in the Dunes Off Highway Vehicle Recreation Area in New Mexico.

According to Lieutenant Kyle Lincoln of the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office, the young girl was killed after falling from the vehicle early Sunday morning around 4:30 a.m.

Becenti is said to have been intoxicated while attempting the dangerous stunt. The Sheriff’s Office is reportedly investigating to see whether or not the driver was also drunk at the time Wilberta fell off the car.

Unfortunately, this type of case isn’t the only one reported this year. In fact, Wilberta’s passing marks the seventh death in the country related to car surfing. Thankfully, not everyone who has played this incredibly stupid game has lost their lives. Minnesota native Andrew Green — who had part of his skull removed and was placed in a month long coma back in April after he fell off the front grille of a friend’s car — warned others during a chat with USA Today:

“If I ever have the chance to tell someone or stop someone, I want to take that chance. I don’t want anyone to end up like this, and there is a possibility they could end up even worse than this.”

Wise words. Our thoughts are with those affected by this growing trend.

Here’s hoping we don’t see any more car surfing related fatalities this year. Fingers crossed…
