As you surely know, things were a bit strained between the members of the iconic girl group as Melanie C and Victoria Beckham decided they did NOT want to partake in a 20th anniversary tour. This led to Mel B calling her former bandmates “b*tches” on James Corden‘s The Late Late Show — oh, and she even unfollowed Sporty Spice on Twitter at one point.
Despite their estrangement, things seem to be heading in a positive direction as Mel C recently dished to The Daily Star:
“Thank God Geri is pregnant because it’s made us go, ‘Oh my god, this is what’s really important.'”
BLESS! In regards to the rumors that the ladies were at odds over the reunion, the 42-year-old added:
“Some of my relationships with some of the girls in the band have been difficult at times but I will never not love them.”
The pop star went onto to confirm that the SG members are in fact on speaking terms with each other — however, this doesn’t mean all of their problems have just disappeared. On her issues with Scary Spice, the ’90s icon noted:
“I love Melanie but she is a little bit of a law unto herself.”
Regardless, Mel doesn’t seem to hold S.S.’s comment against her as she concluded:
“She has her reasons but whatever they are, I don’t know. I read about the bitches comment. I’ve done it myself when you say something for comedic value and it backfires. Or maybe she does mean it. But I’ve nothing against her. Whatever. It’s fine.”
Well that’s very big of her.
Still, we can’t say we’re not disappointed Mel C and Vicky B won’t be apart of the reunion tour. And we doubt Miz C will show up for a surprise performance as she doesn’t think the reformed trio will do the Spice Girls justice. Sigh!
But, who knows, we have until Geri gives birth and gets off of maternity leave to see how this whole thing plays out!
