We can’t. We just can’t.
On Monday, five former employees of NBC‘s The Apprentice brand opened up about an incident where Gary Busey allegedly sexually assaulted a female employee during his time on the reality TV competition. To make matters worse, the staffers claim Donald Trump was informed about the upsetting situation and, rather than be concerned by the Oscar nominee’s behavior, just laughed it off.
In fact, Busey was allowed to stay on the TV show. How disgusting.
Several Apprentice employees, including the alleged victim, have told The Daily Beast about the incident. In their account of what went down, they accuse the Point Break actor of grabbing a female colleague “firmly between [the] legs”. Gary is also said to have “forcibly” put the same woman’s hand on the crotch region of his pants. Yuck!
This troubling incident supposedly went down as the 2011 Celebrity Apprentice crew were filming on location at a gallery in the SoHo neighborhood in NYC. The alleged victim explained to the publication:
“They had booze for the , I think Lil Jon ordered it. And so, a few of the celebrities wanted to do a shot together after we finished [setting up] for the show. We all took a shot together, and then went to stand together for B-roll time.
We were smoking cigarettes outside, and Busey was standing next to me. And then at one point, he grabbed me firmly between my legs, and ran his hand up my stomach, and grabbed my breasts. I didn’t know what to do. So I made this joke that, ‘Oh, I’ve never been sexually harassed by a celebrity before!’ Then he grabbed my hand and put it [over] his penis, and said, like, ├óΓé¼╦£I’m just getting started, baby.’ Then my friend jumped in between [me and Busey] and put his hand on Busey’s chest.”
It wasn’t long before the woman’s peers rallied around her and requested that Gary be fired from the show. Unfortunately for the staff, Trump reportedly ignored the request. The Lethal Weapon star stayed on CA long enough to land in sixth place. The only reprimand Gary faced was when the presidential hopeful pulled the celeb aside and chastised him as a “bad boy, a very bad boy.” One staffer added:
“This was brought to Trump’s attention later, and there was something when he questioned Busey in the boardroom about it, and the resolution was Trump saying, ├óΓé¼╦£Keep your hands to yourself.'”
Ugh. So, why didn’t these folks come forward sooner?
Well, apparently, the group were afraid to speak out due to the non-disclosure agreements they signed. Not to mention, the alleged victim feared her career would be ruined if she took on Donald and co. She shared:
“I didn’t think I’d get hired again by the company if I said something like that [and pursued further action].”
Nonetheless, as the Trumpster’s “p*ssy grabbing” comments continue to make headlines, we can’t say we’re surprised they were inspired to speak out. The unnamed woman even confirmed that the GOP nominee did NOT set a good example as he said “gross things all the time”. Eek.
Busey’s manager Ron Sampson has since denied the accusations made against his client. He defended:
“In response to your ludicrous inquiry, we will not bother and/or disrupt the life of a wonderful 72 year old man who has enjoyed a flawless career for over 45 years, to entertain such ridiculous and false accusations. Mr. Busey has better things to do with the rest of his life, like help raise his 6 year old son, and enjoy his family on his free time
It is our belief this is clearly an attempt to gain 5 minutes of fame for some wannabe, or perhaps a political attempt to drag Mr. Busey in the mud because he has been labeled a supporter of Donald Trump, which is falseMr. Busey has never officially endorsed Donald Trump, has no interest in politics, and is extremely fed up with being associated as a Donald Trump supporter when he is not. We are putting you on alert that if you print ANYTHING of the sort regarding an alleged anything, you are clearly opening yourself for a lawsuit.”
What do YOU think? Did something inappropriate happen during Celebrity Apprentice?
