Aaron stopped by Oprah Winfrey‘s Where Are They Now? over the weekend to discuss his history of drug and alcohol abuse — and ended up sharing a story about how Dancing with the Stars changed his life.

Apparently, Aaron was “broke” and living in Nick Carter‘s guest house before his DWTS stunt casting, which forced him to stop drinking in order to get into shape. However, after his 5th place finish on the ABC reality show failed to garner him any solid record deals… he fell back into his life of partying.

Luckily, the highs of his Dancing success allowed his mom to notice the lows once he really hit rock bottom… finally prompting him to enter rehab!

Regardless of the reason, we’re glad you’re doing better now, Aaron!!
