You go girls!
Little Mix currently have the No. 1 song in the U.K. thanks to their new single Shout Out to My Ex… but for some reason, all anyone can talk about are their rivalries with other girl groups.
Not only did Melanie C already weigh in on the X Factor winners’ song, but music fans across the world have been pretty vocal about the Zayn Malik-inspired track’s similarities to G.R.L.‘s Ugly Heart!
G.R.L. themselves even called them out over it.
Luckily for Mixers everywhere, Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, Jesy Nelson, and Leigh-Anne Pinnock don’t seem very phased by the comparisons.
In fact, the band stopped by Belgium’s QMusic over the weekend where Jade actually used her friendship with G.R.L.’s Emmalyn Estrada to dispel those song-stealing rumors, saying:
“Every song is going to have a similar chord sequence, slightly similar lyrics and melodies ├óΓé¼ΓÇ£- it happens all the time. It doesn’t mean that they’re not both incredible songs.
I think maybe because it was a girl band as well, I just think people like to have something negative to say.”
Sounds fair to us.
However, Perrie clearly didn’t want there to be any confusion about where they stood on the feud, adding:
“I just think, stop trying to hop on the bandwagon.”
We guess we won’t be getting a collab with G.R.L. from our girls in the near future…
