There’s a lesson here: never, ever come for the Oakland Athletics — and Smash Mouth just found that out the hard way!
The 1990s rock group (Hey now, you’re an All Star… get your game on…) is very active on Twitter, and they are big, big baseball fans — a combination that got them into big trouble with Oakland’s MLB team late last night!
Things all got started when Smash Mouth took a shot at the A’s as being a “joke,” and while some of the back and forth is pretty baseball specific (the band is mad that the baseball team isn’t spending money on good players, for example), the takedown is EPIC!!!
Ch-ch-check out the entire thing go down (below) starting with Smash Mouth responding to a baseball writer about a former A’s player!!!
Coco Crisp goes from accusing A’s of benching him to prevent $13M option from vesting to hitting key RBI single for Indians in World Series.

The A’s are NOT about to take that, though, and this thing VERY quickly devolves into bedlam (below):
At this point, one of the Athletics’ pitchers, Sean Doolittle, inserted himself into the beef and tried to inject a little humor (below):
The A’s got REALLY personal in response:
WOW!!! You can’t go THERE, can you?!
When another Twitter user jumped in to give his thoughts, the A’s took it even further (below):
The A’s came to PLAY!!! This is a great Twitter fight!!
Of course, this morning after coming to their senses, the club released this tweet (below):
Hey @smashmouth – sorry we let our competitive juices get the best of us. Tickets and a 1st pitch are on us anytime you’re in the East Bay. pic.twitter.com/wfsKcBr1NW

OK, well, all’s well that ends well…
But still, that was a Twitter feud for the century!!!
